Yuki Makita
Yuki Makita
When you hear the term "Argentine music", you would probably think about the tango. There is, however, a very popular type of music called the "chamamé", where the accordion and/or the bandoneon play great roles. The chamamé rhythm is in 6/8 beat, and is highly syncopated. The music was born out of a fusion of European music (such as the polka, mazurka and waltz) with the indigenous rhythm of the indios in the past. Chamamé can be jolly, and sometimes very sentimental, reflecting the sour realities that people had to face in life in the olden days. Yuki Makita is the only chamamé accordion artist in Japan. She not only introduces traditional and modern chamamé music to the Japanese audience, but skillfully combines the Argentine elements with the Japanese soul and creates her own original pieces of music, rich in classical and pop essence. Yuki plays the accordion with great expression, and her sounds are warm, rich in overtones and at the same time persuasive and extremely crisp, as if her soul is directly connected to its accordion counterpart, namely the bellows. You are cordially invited to discover and experience the wonderful world of Yuki Makita!
